The Supplements…

Suzanne Somers swears by anti-aging supplements. In her book, Bombshell, she discusses what, in her opinion, are the best supplements to combat aging while also improving your overall health. Suzanne she uses most of the supplements that she discusses in her book, which include TA-65, Resveratrol, Curcumin, and Probiotics. We’re going to dig a bit deeper on these supplements. Maybe they’re what you’ve been looking for!

TA-65:

TA-65 is an anti-aging supplement that is far from cheap but has shown impressive results. TA-65 comes in capsules, cream, and liquid form – all of which are all natural, and plant-based. The TA-65 compound helps maintain or rebuild telomeres that diminish as people get older and begin to show aging on their skin. TA-65 activates an enzyme called telomerase which helps slow down and sometimes even reverse aging.

TA-65 isn’t for everyone, unfortunately. The supplement can cost anywhere from $2,000-$8,000 a year. However, if you can afford this groundbreaking supplement, it’s worth it!

Resveratrol:

Resveratrol is a natural compound found in the skin of red grapes, peanuts, berries, red wine, and purple grape juice. It is an extremely powerful antioxidant with a long list of health benefits. In nature, it is produced by plants to protect them against environmental stress. We humans take it in supplement form to protect our bodies against damage that can put us at higher risk for scary things such as cancer and heart disease.

As we’ve discussed, Suzanne Somers swears by supplements that prolong the natural aging process. Aside from taking care of your insides such as your cardiovascular health, mental sharpness, and endurance levels, resveratrol also works at an anti-aging supplement. This powerful supplement promotes a healthy inflammatory response in our bodies. One of these responses helps to alleviate oxidative stress and inflammation which can lead to premature aging.

Curcumin:

Curcumin, which is the main active ingredient in turmeric, is a potent anti-inflammatory and cancer preventive molecule that Suzanne Somers just can’t get enough of. Curcumin has become increasingly popular in recent years because its incredible properties. This small molecule not only exerts anti-inflammatory benefits such as cancer prevention and treatment. It also alleviates cognitive decline related to aging, reduces risk of diabetes, can be used as treatment for diabetes, and so much more.

Curcumin, or turmertic, is a curry spice, which means it can be added to anything you’d like to eat. However, it has a weak oral bioavailability and should be activated/enhanced with an agent such as black pepper  to maximize its potential. However, if you want the Curcumin in your colon for it’s colon anti-inflammatory and digestion benefits, you should avoid the black pepper.

Probiotics:

Probiotics may not seem like an obvious anti-aging supplement that Suzanne Somers would recommend, but feeling young and healthy directly relates to how your insides are doing. Probiotics help keep you at the top of your game!

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are actually good for our health! Probiotics are commonly referred to as “good” bacteria. A bit weird, right? A bacteria that we actually encourage in our bodies! Our bodies are actually full of bacteria, some are good, some are bad. Probiotics are definitely encouraged, they help keep our gut healthy!

Probiotics work in a few different ways. One way they keep us healthy is by replacing good bacteria when our bodies are in need. For example, after taking antibiotics, our bodies lose “good” bacteria. They also work by keeping a proper balance between our “good” and “bad” bacteria. This helps keep our insides in tip top shape.

Probiotic benefits include…

  • Aids in digestion
  • Boosts immune system levels
  • Helps your body intake the right amount of bad bacteria
  • Creates key nutrients within body
  • Restricts growth of yeast and unhealthy bacteria
  • Reduces risk of diseases and sicknesses (all of which begin in the gut)
  • Limits bouts of lactose intolerance, poor digestion, and diarrhea
